Hydrocare Saltless Water Softeners

Well, I know a lot of you have been waiting and the info is finally in my hands and I’m going to share with you what I’ve found about the Hydrocare saltless water softeners.

Many of you have noted the low cost of these systems, this is true, I’ve found them online for under three hundred dollars and some readers have told me of late night television ads offering the system for as little as a hundred and fifty dollars. This is obviously far less than the five or six hundred you may pay for any number of saltless water softeners. This is truly the most inexpensive system I’ve seen to date, but that savings isn’t worth anything at all if all you’ve bought is a pretty paper weight. The next question is – do they work?

The jury seems split folks, I wish I could tell you definitively but from what I’ve read there’s no consensus. Now, if you’re in agreement that the electrical hydrolosis method of saltless water softeners work it’s no stretch to imagine this is just a more efficient and cheaper version though. Let’s dig deeper into this quandry and see if we can get to the bottom of these systems.

I spoke with one gentleman who swore he owned one and it worked perfectly well, the Internet chatter seems split but it’s still early. These have just appeared on the scene within the last month or so.  I have gotten back several reports from our wonderful user base though. There are some things to be concerned with.

It appears this system relies on large amounts of power, more than most think is even necessary. This implies a poor design process and leads me to believe these units may very well be prone to failure. Just the act of drawing so much extra current would cause damage to he comments (albeit very slow damage.) Plus the added utility bills with no need at all and you’ve got a serious problem.

There’s also the question of efficacy, that is do these hydrocare saltless water softeners even work? If not the rest is all pointless anyway, who cares how much power a paper weight uses! Any is too much!! Some people tell me they notice no difference at all using these systems but they also report installing it themselves… That leaves a lot of unknowns. Were these units “used” (or even defective?) I’ve been ripped off before, it happens. Were they properly installed? If not that’s not a very good test either really.

I did hear back from a couple of people who got them professionally installed and they say the system works great, although they admit it does use a lot of power – but no salt. There is always that, for some I’m sure the trade off of no salt for more electricity is worthwhile. And for those on a tight budget this is one of the most cost effective saltless water softener systems out there. I do worry about durability but we won’t know for years just how durable these systems are, for now the question is whether you want to try the newest system or stick with a more expensive but tried and true model.

  25. I work for a local municipality with hard water. I got complaints from customers who replaced their salt softeners with saltless water softeners. I’d have to go out and do some testing – these softeners simply do not work.
